On October 26, 2019, Professor Zhang juming of the teaching and Research Office of grass industry science of our college led the teachers, graduate students and undergraduate teams to attend the cultural and industrial exchange meeting of Foshan open at Foshan golf club. The exchange is a technical exchange activity held during the European Golf Challenge Tour. It aims to provide a platform for people from all walks of life concerned about golf industry and culture to exchange cutting-edge information and share the latest achievements and trends in the industry.During the conference, Professor Zhang juming, as the Chinese certification officer of the golf environment organization (GEO) headquartered in the UK, took Foshan golf club as an example to introduce the certification conditions of geo golf course and event in detail. Foshan golf course has implemented the sustainable development maintenance management measures advocated by geo certification, the maintenance cost has been reduced year by year, the cost has been greatly reduced, and the environmental protection effect is significant. In the process of certification of Foshan golf course, teachers and students of grass science have identified and listed the main plants in the course, which has become a highlight of geo certification of Foshan golf course. No matter athletes or spectators, when they come to the Foshan open, they can not only enjoy golf, but also recognize the trees and plants growing all over the course, so as to cultivate their awareness of respecting and protecting nature, which is of great significance for the future of sustainable development. At present, the development bottleneck of golf industry in China comes from resources and environment. It should be guided by the sustainable development advocated by geo and seek the way to solve it. Foshan golf course undoubtedly provides an example for golf course management in China.
